WALTER was born on February 10th, 1920 in at home..  WALTER's father was FRANCIS Joseph CONWAY and his mother was LOUISA M ROTH.  His paternal grandparents are PETER CONWAY and MARY HESTER; his maternal grandfather is JOHN ROTH and his maternal grandmother was SOPHIA GEIST.  He had eight brothers and four sisters, named FRANCIS J, PETER P., ALEXANDER, JAMES, THOMAS JOSEPH, WILLIAM FRANCIS, JACK (EDWIN) (EDWARD J), GEORGE FRANCIS, MARY HELEN, HELEN, ANNA VIRGINIA and SOPHIE.  He is the tenth oldest of the thirteen children.
